“You should see a therapist.”
You’ve heard this before… you’ve even tried it!
But it didn’t quite go so well. “Why do I have to sit and convince someone of my struggles?”
You’re afraid to try it again with another therapist. You’re not sure what the therapist is like or if you’ll even feel comfortable telling them what’s happened to you.
In fact, there are some things you haven’t told anyone before – and now you have to share them with a total stranger?
But just making it through the day is getting harder…
Going to work each day, you try to cover up the fact that you’re in so much distress.
When you reach out to friends and family, their responses are hurtful; and you feel misunderstood, instead of supported.
You are in pain and want it to stop!
“I can’t take much more of this…”
Take a deep breath… you’ve come to the right place.
I know you’re done with feeling overwhelmed, confused, and helpless in your situation. That’s why you’re here.
As your therapist, I’ll encourage you to express yourself without format or restrictions. I’m here to validate, support, and encourage you, as you gain insight into your situation.
Although you may arrive at your first therapy session feeling anxious and deflated, it is common to leave your session expressing excitement and hope!
I’ll teach you new strategies to improve your circumstances at home, work, and with varying relationships.
We’ll focus on underlying coping skills…
…rather than the particular situation so that you can master the bigger picture. For example …
You just walked in the house after a long day at work and fought through rush hour traffic only to find your child left dishes in the sink and crumbs on the counter… does this upset you? Or do you generally have emotional blowups when you return home in the evening?
Considering these questions will help you discover that your distress level rises quickly, effecting how strongly you respond to stressors.
I’ll share with you the many simple ways to prevent the blowups that add conflict in your home.
You have nothing to lose but much to gain!
It’s not easy taking the first step to reach out for help. So many past experiences, doubts, concerns, and fears keep us caught in a cycle that things will get better on their own or thinking that we can solve all our problems on our own.
But sometimes we need support, guidance, and a new perspective to help us overcome the challenges we face.
And that support is here. Call me now to schedule your appointment: (901) 337-0343.
